Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Skills for Therapists who work with children and young adults
in New Zealand/Aotearoa

CBT is an evidence based therapeutic approach focusing on thoughts, emotions and behaviours to address mental health issues. Traditionally CBT training has been adult focused. Here is an opportunity to learn CBT skills for working with children and young people in the New Zealand/Aotearoa context.

This Workshop will cover:

  • Theory and model of CBT as it applies to children and young people in New Zealand
  • Developmental considerations when applying CBT to children and young people
  • Creative CBT strategies for working with children and young people, particularly as they apply to depression, anxiety and anger
Key Outcomes:

By the end of the workshop you will:

  • Understand key theoretical principles of CBT as it applies to children, young people and their families/whānau in New Zealand/Aotearoa
  • Practice using CBT skills with clients who present with anxiety and depression
  • Design your own unique CBT strategies for working with children, young people and their families/whānau in New Zealand/Aotearoa
